Insta-Glow Skin Care
As a busy mom on a budget, it's important to keep your routine simple, using products that actually work at a price point that won't break the bank. Here are 5 products that are worth the time and money. (Each step is under $40).
1. Apply a retinol serum at night.
I've tried several brands at many price points over the years, including prescription Tretinoin but the serum that gives me the most noticeable results is shockingly, a drug store brand. This formula is great for sensitive skin, but if you are very sensitive, apply a moisturizer prior to application to create a protective barrier and work your way up to nightly use by alternating every other night for a month.

2. Protect your skin with sunscreen daily.
Dermatologist have been singing this mantra from the rooftops for decades due to the research on this topic. Wear sunscreen every day to protect your skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays. This one from Trader Joe's is formulated beautifully and mimics a pore concealing primer in many ways. Maybe that's why it is almost always sold out!

3. Gently exfoliate 2-3 times per week.
Stop scrubbing your skin with harsh physical exfoliants and begin using a gentle formulation of 10% glycolic acid serum. Apply this serum at night under the retinol 2-3 times per week for the best results. If you are sensitive, reduce to 1-2 times per week and alternate on nights you skip the retinol.

4. Install a Vitamin C shower filter.
This might come as a surprise, but hard water can really do a number on your skin and hair. When I began to notice my scalp itching from dryness, I found a recommendation for this product and was amazed at the results after just two showers. It is relatively cheap ($37) and was super easy to install. My hair has never felt better!

5. Finish off with a soothing occlusive moisturizer.
This should be the last step in your evening routine to seal in those active ingredients mentioned above. This moisturizer is ultra soothing and leaves my skin feeling plump and radiant in the morning.
